Single Sign-On Improves Security for Financial Services Giant

Foresters, a fraternal life insurance society serving nearly 950,000 members across Canada, the U.S. and the U.K., needed secure single sign-on for a broad portfolio of products accessed primarily by independent agents outside its walls. Their existing SSO solution was expensive to maintain and lacked a roadmap, so Foresters engaged DatAvail to evaluate Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) via a proof-of-concept to identify a more manageable, lower‑risk alternative.

DatAvail ran the UAG POC and demonstrated Microsoft Forefront UAG could support every line-of-business application while preserving application integrity; DatAvail then migrated the bulk of servers using Microsoft ISAS (Internet Security and Acceleration Service) and automated processes to lower project costs. The DatAvail implementation delivered premium secure sign-on, easier management, protection of highly sensitive internal data, and a more cost-effective, lower‑maintenance environment for Foresters.
