Ontario Power Generation - Customer Case Study

Ontario Power Generation (OPG), a large Ontario-based electricity generator, faced fragmented storage of millions of documents across departments, multiple formats and systems, manual processes, and strict security needs that made searching and retrieval slow and unreliable. OPG engaged DatAvail to design an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) approach, leveraging a SAP-integrated Microsoft Office SharePoint Server solution to address migration, metadata, annotations and secure, scalable storage.

DatAvail delivered a Proof of Concept and rapidly implemented the SAP-integrated ECM in under six months, migrating existing documents without disrupting workflows. The DatAvail solution produced enterprise-wide consistency, significantly improved search and retrieval, saved hundreds of staff-hours, and reduced total cost of ownership while aligning document management with OPG’s enterprise strategy.
