Lucidoc Improves Performance & Reliability with Amazon RDS for Oracle Migration

Lucidoc Corporation, a healthcare compliance and document management solution provider, faced licensing and performance problems after moving Oracle from bare metal to Amazon EC2 — higher CPU configurations increased licensing costs, Oracle text functions underperformed, and the migration was complicated by 90 different schemas across mixed environments. Lucidoc Corporation engaged Datavail to plan and execute an Amazon RDS for Oracle migration to address these issues.

Datavail leveraged its Oracle and AWS migration expertise (including AWS Database Migration Service and Oracle Data Pump) to segment the migration for 90 schemas, recreate missing Oracle text indexes, and transition systems from bare metal and EC2 to Amazon RDS for Oracle. As a result, Datavail delivered improved performance and reliability, reduced CPU requirements from 16 to 4 without degrading user experience, restored Oracle text functionality, and moved Lucidoc Corporation to ongoing Oracle licensing — and continues to advise on future migrations to alternative AWS database services.
