Law Firm Regains 10,000 Billable Hours and Improves Client Services

Goodmans LLP, a leading Canadian transaction law firm with about 500 employees and offices in Toronto and Vancouver, needed a simple, reliable way for clients and experts to connect by phone, email and online meetings while automatically tracking those interactions for accurate billing. The firm sought a unified communications enhancement that would be easy for everyone to use and that would capture billable time without manual effort—helping busy lawyers spend more time serving clients and less time on administration.

DatAvail implemented CallTracker (Navantis CallTracker) to integrate with Goodmans’ unified communications platform, providing automated, secure capture of client interactions and detailed representations of billable time. The solution reduced teleconferencing costs, improved lawyer work–life balance and training, and gave more flexible collaboration tools; DatAvail projects Goodmans can recoup as many as 10,000 unbilled hours per year (about one hour per week per 200 lawyers).
