eHealth Firm Achieves Cost Optimization and Compliance in the Cloud

The Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative, a non-profit that provides data warehousing, analytics and implementation support to healthcare clients, faced an on-premises Microsoft SQL Server 2008 environment holding over 10 terabytes that limited agility, scalability and recovery while creating ongoing capacity and compliance challenges. To migrate its real-time Quality Data Center without interrupting client submissions and to maintain strict HIPAA controls for ePHI, MAeHC engaged Datavail for Microsoft SQL Server database expertise and cloud migration support.

Datavail upgraded the environment to SQL Server 2016 and migrated MAeHC to AWS using R4 high-memory EC2 instances with provisioned IOPS, Snowball for backups and VPN log shipping, then implemented a custom 24x7 Datavail monitoring solution. The result was a secure, scalable cloud platform with a “single pane of glass” view, strengthened HIPAA visibility, reduced operating costs and eliminated daily capacity firefighting—enabling faster client onboarding and ongoing performance tuning.
