Preview of the Leading Generation and Transmission Utilities Company Case Study

Datavail helped use industry best practices to create an efficient and integrated system

Leading Generation and Transmission Utilities Company, a generation and transmission cooperative serving approximately 432,000 homes and businesses (~$800M revenue), needed to modernize its legacy Oracle environment. The customer engaged Datavail to upgrade Oracle E-Business Suite from 12.1.3 to 12.2.9 and move the Oracle Database from 11g/12c to 19c. Key challenges included EBS compatibility with the CDB/PDB multi-tenant architecture, OAF page/controller changes that impacted the iProcurement module, and fragile integrations that relied on a custom external FTP server.

Datavail executed a phased implementation using its Unified Implementation Methodology (hybrid Agile/Waterfall), installing the 12.2 application file layout and patches, upgrading the database path to non-CDB 19c and EBS 19c PBD, rebuilding OAF customizations, coordinating Oracle fixes, and moving integration files to the fs_ne file system while updating Unix shell scripts and maintaining separate test/prod bundles. Datavail’s work resulted in a successful upgrade to Oracle EBS 12.2.9 and Oracle 19c, stabilized integrations to prevent file-system swap interruptions, and improved operational readiness and maintainability for the customer’s ERP environment.
