Building a POC on AWS for an International Business Process Outsourcing Company

International Business Process Outsourcing Company engaged Datavail to run an analysis and proof of concept to validate whether their database workload would run in AWS RDS (or, if needed, on AWS EC2) and to determine the best high-availability approach (AWS features vs. Oracle Data Guard) for an upcoming database migration.

Datavail developed governance, access, testing and migration plans, configured an Oracle 12c test environment in AWS, migrated applications and databases (including moving a database from Solaris to EC2 on Red Hat Linux 7), and tested latency, performance and failover. As a result, Datavail migrated critical applications to AWS, refactored Oracle to PostgreSQL to lower licensing costs, implemented an archival mechanism for multiple terabytes of data, and put high-availability and disaster-recovery strategies in place to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
