Gardyn Optimizes Plants’ Growth With Datature

Gardyn, a pioneer in home vertical hydroponic farming, sought to automate the analysis of plant growth stages to minimize user intervention. Their challenge was to develop a scalable, automated computer vision solution to replace manual processes, optimizing plant growth through AI. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Datature to leverage its end-to-end no-code platform for building instance segmentation models.

Using Datature's Nexus platform, Gardyn built a streamlined MLOps pipeline. The solution incorporated tools for collaborative annotation, model training with advanced evaluation, and a no-code deployment setup via an Inference API. This allowed Gardyn to rapidly develop and deploy a robust, production-level AI model that efficiently detects plant growth stages. The result is their Kelby AI platform, which provides users with minimal, actionable insights and has been running effectively for over a year, scaling Gardyn's AI efforts without a major team or expense.
