A DataStax Case Study
Ooyala, a San Francisco–based video services company that helps media owners manage, analyze and monetize digital video for web, mobile and connected TV, faced rapidly exploding analytics volumes as customers and platforms multiplied (including a major partnership with Yahoo! Japan). Their legacy relational database could not scale to provide deep, near-real-time, video-level analytics without constant re-architecture.
By moving core analytics to Apache Cassandra (with support from DataStax) Ooyala gained elastic, low-latency storage they scale simply by adding nodes. The change enabled new “Actionable Analytics” products, fast access to massive datasets across platforms, improved monetization insights for customers and a clear competitive advantage.
