A DataStax Case Study
myEd is an Australian teaching and learning platform that lets teachers build and share “quests” (learning sequences), track student progress in real time, and provide feedback—all designed to fit teachers’ workflows and simplify personalization. As the product matured, myEd needed a way to capture and analyze large volumes of time-series interaction data to drive its personalization engine and provide meaningful, actionable insights for teachers, instead of relying on siloed tools.
myEd deployed DataStax Enterprise (Cassandra with integrated Solr) on AWS to store time-series analytics with automatic indexing, and uses OpsCenter for cluster health. The DSE deployment was quick and unobtrusive, enabling an internal analytics dashboard and fast ad-hoc queries that immediately surfaced user behavior insights, supported individualized instruction, and made the team more data-driven; they plan to add Hadoop/Spark for large-scale aggregations as data grows.
