Making Electronic Invoicing Simple and Highly Scalable with SmarterWeb and DataStax Enterprise

SmarterWeb, a Guadalajara-based CFDI Certification Provider, helps independent software vendors issue and report electronic invoices to Mexico’s Tax Administration. After Mexico mandated electronic invoicing in 2011, SmarterWeb needed a low-cost, highly performant and adaptable platform to store and serve millions of invoices and absorb large traffic spikes; previous solutions built on SQL Server and Azure Search suffered from deadlocks, timeouts and poor search performance.

SmarterWeb migrated to DataStax Enterprise, using Apache Cassandra and DSE Search (with Solr integration) for easy deployment, fast searches and linear scalability by adding nodes. The new stack eliminated the reliability and performance issues they faced, handled more than 1 million transactions in an 8‑hour window without problems, and positions the team to expand services (including planned DSE Analytics adoption) while certifying staff on the platform.
