Enabling Social Search Platform with Drund on DataStax Enterprise

Drund is a white‑label communications platform that provides custom mobile apps, admin tools and social features for communities. As user content and metadata grew—images, videos, messages, hashtags, events and storefront data—Drund found its MySQL and MongoDB stack couldn’t scale or deliver fast, real‑time search over hashtagged social content.

Drund moved hashtag and search workloads to Apache Cassandra on DataStax Enterprise, using DSE Search (Solr integration) for wildcard and real‑time queries, and plans to migrate messaging and statistics to Cassandra and DSE Analytics (Spark) for richer metrics. The change delivered better availability, speed and scalability and enabled immediate, customer‑facing real‑time search while laying groundwork for advanced analytics and unified data services.
