TC Capital, led by CEO Tommy Tan, is a Pan-Asian boutique investment firm that found traditional, manual valuation methods outdated and subjective. To modernize valuation and harness a proprietary dataset of 43,000 companies with 560 variables, TC Capital turned to DataRobot’s automated machine learning and enterprise AI to build a more objective, data-driven valuation methodology.

DataRobot automated data cleaning, normalization, and model building, producing dozens of high-quality valuation models within six months. Backtests over 20 years showed highly accurate predictions and trading strategies that beat the market by nearly 3x; the work also avoided an estimated $10 million and three years of effort. DataRobot models are now used by TC Capital’s valuation committee and are being extended into a customer-facing app, CeeSuite.
