Case Study: Philadelphia 76ers achieves higher season-ticket renewal rates and year-round retention with DataRobot

A DataRobot Case Study

Preview of the Philadelphia 76ers Case Study

How the Philadelphia 76ers Win Off the Court Using Machine Learning from DataRobot

The Philadelphia 76ers, part of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, needed to retain a rapidly expanding season-ticket base—having grown season ticket holders fourfold over four seasons and becoming the NBA leader in new full season tickets. To move beyond static, once-a-year regressions and give their retention team a dynamic way to prioritize outreach, the 76ers turned to DataRobot and its Enterprise AI platform.

DataRobot implemented machine learning models to predict individual season-ticket renewal risk, enabling the sales renewal team to prioritize high-risk accounts, convert renewals into a year‑round retention process, and track accounts 12 months a year. DataRobot’s models helped the 76ers hit an inflection point in their analytics capability, improved outreach efficiency, and provide a scalable approach the organization can extend to other HBSE properties like the New Jersey Devils.
