A DataRobot Case Study
Domestic & General (D&G), the UK-based specialist warranty provider with 9 million customers in the UK and 16 million globally, needed to deliver highly personalized, price-optimized offers at scale but were constrained by a manual, slow modeling process written in R and Python. To predict churn and find the optimal renewal price for each customer, D&G turned to DataRobot’s automated machine learning platform to automate model building and enable personalized pricing across millions of customers.
Using DataRobot (initially via a 2017 POC), D&G integrated the platform into its pricing system to build models in about an hour instead of days, run batch predictions for roughly 300,000 customers per month, and evaluate some 200 price points per customer. DataRobot-driven pricing optimization increased uplifts from around 1.5% of revenue to nearly 4%, and D&G plans to expand to real-time pricing and scale to 500,000–1,000,000 price quotes per month using DataRobot.
