A dataPARC Case Study
W.R. Grace & Co., a $2 billion specialty chemical company with global operations and a large Curtis Bay manufacturing site, faced disconnected IT and OT systems and an ineffective historian that was slow, unintuitive, and unable to support multi-trend analysis. Operators had little buy-in and relied on control-system tools rather than usable analytics, so Grace engaged dataPARC to provide an integrated, intuitive data platform (including smart alarms, Alarm Server, manager dashboards and mobile notifications).
dataPARC implemented a centralized data system with high-performance process graphics, smart alarms tied to process tags and lab data, SPC/SQC cause-tracking, and mobile/email notifications, enabling remote visibility, predictive maintenance and better process management. The result was immediate: first-pass quality improved, downtime decreased and profitability rose, with measurable impacts including up to an 80% drop in Unit Production Qualities (COPQ) and an ROI at Curtis Bay in under six months thanks to dataPARC.
