Royal & Sun Alliance, a large property and casualty insurer, faced the challenge of decommissioning its costly mainframe-based MRI call center quotation system. The legacy application held 40GB of historical data that 1,300 users still needed to access. Their goal was to eliminate all associated mainframe maintenance and license costs while fully replicating the user workflow without any disruption to their call center operations.

DataNovation implemented its application to provide a convenient read-only interface to the legacy MRI data. The solution successfully ported all 40GB of records, allowing RSA to fully decommission the original application. The results included the complete elimination of mainframe running costs and a seamless transition for users, who experienced continuous, uniform access to all data throughout the process.
