IMI Precision Engineering - Customer Case Study

The customer, IMI Precision Engineering, a large global manufacturing enterprise, faced a significant challenge when Microsoft planned to sunset Windows Server 2008. Their critical legacy Vantage application and its Progress database, containing 20 years of essential data, were incompatible with a new OS. They needed to transfer this data to a secure, supported platform to alleviate security risks and needed a solution from vendor DataNovation to build stakeholder trust for a cost-effective decommissioning roadmap.

DataNovation implemented a solution that migrated the database to a current SQL Server and automatically generated an HTML5 application to provide contextual access to the data. This removed the security threat, allowed IT resources to be reallocated to other projects, and created an intuitive system for users. The project resulted in significant cost savings by retiring legacy licenses and cutting maintenance costs, with DataNovata providing a repeatable engagement concept for future legacy conversions.
