ArchCare, an integrated delivery network operated by the Archdiocese of New York, needed a secure way to exchange electronic health information inside and outside the organization while staying compliant with HIPAA and HITECH. Its 18-person IT team was responsible for data across 24 locations, and it wanted a solution that would be easy to use, work with Microsoft Exchange, and help reduce the risk of missed PHI in email.

ArchCare expanded its use of DataMotion by adding SecureMail Gateway and Direct Secure Messaging to its existing encryption services. DataMotion automatically scans email from 1,600 ArchCare email addresses for PHI and encrypts messages when needed, while Direct supports secure clinical data exchange with referral partners. The result was greatly reduced risk exposure, increased HIPAA/HITECH compliance, higher user confidence, and minimal help desk calls.
