Real-time Alerts Inform UN Response and Humanitarian Aid Delivery

United Nations Global Pulse needed reliable, real-time information to protect staff and deliver humanitarian aid across more than 8,500 field locations worldwide. In 2019 United Nations Global Pulse partnered with Dataminr to deploy Dataminr’s First Alert product, bringing fastest-possible alerts into UN workflows to surface emerging crises and critical incidents.

Dataminr’s First Alert is now used by thousands of UN personnel to increase situational awareness and accelerate response times; for example, First Alert was first to notify UN staff of the disappearance of several hundred children in Central Africa, enabling rapid mobilization, and it can flag sudden water-supply losses so teams can redirect water deliveries in support of SDG 6. The Dataminr partnership has therefore measurably improved the UN’s ability to detect incidents early and deliver timely humanitarian assistance.
