A Datamatics Case Study
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), the authority managing a major pilgrimage site in India, faced operational challenges after investing in a new ropeway. Manual ticketing for battery-operated vehicle services caused long queues, delays, and inefficient fare reconciliation, creating a bottleneck for pilgrims despite modernized infrastructure. To address this, the Board partnered with Datamatics.
Datamatics implemented its TruFare automated fare collection system to digitize ticketing. This solution integrated online and offline channels, enabling real-time seat management and reducing queues. The results were transformative: the journey time was reduced from 3 hours to 15 minutes, the ropeway could manage 800 devotees per hour during peaks, and the system achieved a 10x increase in passenger flow handling capacity.
