Migrating Google Sites to SharePoint Online for major hotel chain

Leading Hotel Group, a global hospitality company operating thousands of properties, needed to migrate its Google-based business applications to a secure, collaborative intranet on SharePoint Online. The customer faced the challenge of moving roughly 4,300 Google Sites (including gadgets and workflows) under tight timelines, with limited migration tools and in-house expertise, while ensuring role-based access, minimal downtime and better visibility across its distributed operations. Datamatics was engaged to deliver the migration to SharePoint Online.

Datamatics implemented a hybrid onsite/offsite migration approach, built custom migration utilities and scripts, and used an incremental methodology with a PoC that migrated three sites to validate the process. By leveraging Datamatics’ tools, Google APIs for secure role-based access, and third-party migration components, the vendor enabled large-scale migration to SharePoint Online with reduced downtime, improved site navigation and content verification.
