Global Market Research Firm needed to collect and analyze massive, unstructured response data to generate opinion polls for the 2009 Indian elections. The firm faced 7.5 million scanned questionnaires in 22 Indian languages from 467 constituencies across 35 centers, low‑quality images and light pencil marks, unsorted batches, mixed constituency codes and tight timelines. Datamatics was engaged to address these challenges using its RPA solution TruBot and document-processing expertise.
Datamatics implemented a proof‑of‑concept using TruBot, six in‑house algorithms for optical mark recognition and mailroom scanning supported by 200 FTEs to process 7.5 million documents. The solution delivered clean, edited data, masked sensitive information, and automated consolidation and reporting (including frequency reports), enabling on‑time pre‑poll analysis; OMR accuracy reached 99.9% and Datamatics ensured complete, 100% accurate data capture.
