A Datamatics Case Study
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine faced rapidly increasing pilgrim numbers after opening a new INR 600 million ropeway between Bhawan and Bhairon that shortens a 1.45 km trek to 15 minutes and handles up to 800 devotees per hour. The Shrine needed a secure, scalable automated fare collection solution to manage high-volume ticketing, reduce queue times, prevent fraud and revenue leakage, and restrict access to only authorized, ticketed visitors — a challenge Datamatics addressed with its TruFare AFC system (contactless smart card, QR and mobile ticketing).
Datamatics implemented TruFare across three ropeway terminals with turnstiles, Ticket Office Machines, handheld validators, backend servers and a check-in/check-out fare logic, plus secure keys and validation checks. The solution automated fare collection, cut queue times, prevented double-entry and revenue loss, and enforced entry only for valid ticket holders; it supports peak throughput of 800 passengers per hour and is future-proofed to scale up to 10x higher pilgrim loads.
