A Datalynx Case Study
Argos worked with Datalynx to create a multimedia database for its printed and website catalogues. The main challenge was that important product attributes such as weight, fill volume, wattage and colour were stored as free text in inconsistent supplier formats, making it difficult to manage and reuse the catalogue across channels.
Datalynx used its LynxETL product to extract, standardise and categorise product attributes, then converted the catalogue into a structured database with Argos specialist validation and business review at each stage. Datalynx also provided a hosted framework for processing, reviewing and publishing the data without additional Argos infrastructure, resulting in a successfully catalogued database and significantly improved website search, making product searches quicker and easier.
