A Datalogic Case Study
Zero Gachis, a startup focused on reducing food waste in French supermarkets, faced a challenge with the inefficient and time-consuming process of manually discounting and relabeling products nearing their expiration dates. This manual system lengthened checkout times and did not optimize margins. To address this, they partnered with vendor Datalogic to implement a solution using the Skorpio X3 mobile computer.
Datalogic's solution involved using the Skorpio X3 to scan products, automatically calculate discounts, and print new labels via a Bluetooth-connected printer. This streamlined the relabeling process, eliminated manual data entry at checkouts, and updated product availability in real-time on the Zero Gachis app. The results from Datalogic's implementation were significant, reducing unsold fresh products by almost 50% and increasing margins by about ten cents per product within just three months of deployment.
