A Datalogic Case Study
Zero Gachis, a French startup focused on reducing food waste in supermarkets, needed a faster way to manage and label end-of-life fresh products. Working with Datalogic, the company sought a robust mobile computing solution to support real-time pricing calculations and communication with a printer and servers, while eliminating manual discount entry at checkout.
Datalogic provided the Skorpio X3 mobile computer, paired with an E-Class Mark III printer, to automate markdown labeling and update product lists in real time. The solution was deployed in more than a dozen supermarkets in France in just three months, reducing unsold fresh products by nearly 50%, increasing average margins by about ten cents per product, and improving operator productivity and traceability.
