Simon Loos triples returns productivity with Datalogic’s Jade Portal Scanner

Simon Loos, a warehousing and logistics supplier for major retailers in the Netherlands, faced a highly labor-intensive challenge processing returns from pre-stocked promotional displays. Their traditional method required up to seven employees using handheld scanners at a single station, which dictated the process speed and was costly. To address this, they worked with vendor Datalogic and implemented the Jade™ X7 portal scanner to automate item identification.

The solution implemented by Datalogic involved placing the Jade portal scanner at the start of the returns process, allowing a single employee to place items on a conveyor belt for rapid, automated scanning. This significantly improved productivity, tripling throughput and achieving a first read performance above 99%. The automation created a 50% savings in the cost of the returns process and allowed for a much more efficient use of both personnel and workspace.
