SANPAOLO IMI Banking Group tracks 110,000 envelopes per hour with Datalogic

The SANPAOLO IMI Banking Group, a major Italian banking group, needed a reliable system to monitor and track its high-volume production of printed documents in real time. Their challenges included quickly tracking documents via codes, ensuring page consistency, and intercepting printing errors. They partnered with vendor Datalogic and systems integrator HT to implement a solution using the Datalogic Matrix-2000™ unattended 2D CCD readers.

Datalogic's solution involved installing 46 Matrix-2000™ readers on high-speed printing and inserting lines to read linear and 2D codes on documents and envelopes. The system successfully processed up to 6,000 A4 page sides per minute and 110,000 envelopes per hour, providing real-time reports and process control. This implementation allowed SANPAOLO IMI to handle a massive increase in document volume during the Euro currency transition with complete satisfaction and no negative impact on production.
