Procter and Gamble reduces truck loading time by 40% with Datalogic

Procter and Gamble faced a challenge in the fast-paced shipping department of its facility in Jijona, Spain, where forklifts loaded 33 pallets onto trucks every 20 minutes. Errors like loading the wrong pallet were extremely costly, and they required a tracking system with a zero percent error margin. They evaluated different technologies and worked with vendor Datalogic to find an optimal solution.

Datalogic implemented an RFID system where tags were sunk into the floor as location markers and antennas were mounted on forklifts. This solution allowed operators to track pallets accurately as they were moved to dock doors. The result was a more efficient process than the handheld alternative, which was found to be 40% slower. The system provided the required tracking with no errors.
