Poste Italiane installs 30,000 Datalogic scanners to read 1D and 2D codes

Poste Italiane, the leading postal service operator in Italy, faced a challenge during a redevelopment project where their existing laser scanners could not read the 2D Data Matrix codes printed on certified mail. They needed a new solution capable of reading both 1D and 2D barcodes to improve services and decrease customer wait times. They turned to vendor Datalogic for a solution.

Datalogic implemented its Magellan 1000i omni-directional imaging scanners across over 30,000 Poste Italiane locations. This solution provided reliable hands-free scanning of all barcode types, including the 2D codes on certified mail and mobile phone cards. The project successfully expanded Poste Italiane's customer offerings, improved efficiency, and strengthened the partnership between Poste Italiane and Datalogic.
