A Datalogic Case Study
nanoCrypt, a software consulting company, faced a major challenge during a cruise ship christening event in Hamburg, Germany, where they needed to efficiently manage access control for 5,000 guests across 30 gates. Their previous method of using webcams to scan tickets was slow and provided no real-time data. To solve this, they implemented their own nanoTicket mobile ticketing system and partnered with vendor Datalogic to utilize its Gryphon™ 2D Plus handheld readers.
Datalogic's rugged Gryphon readers were the key to the solution, as they were uniquely capable of quickly and reliably scanning 2D barcodes from mobile phone screens, even in an outdoor setting. This allowed event staff to instantly verify tickets and know the correct boarding station for each guest, enabling thousands of people to be boarded within a very short time frame. The solution increased total ticket sales by allowing purchases up until the event started and provided event organizers with valuable real-time attendee data.
