Matrix™ imager enables quick and accurate management of blood bags

Ikazia Hospital Rotterdam’s Clinical Chemistry Laboratory needed a faster, more reliable way to identify and register blood bags. Working with Datalogic and system integrator Zetes, the hospital looked to improve on a manual process where multiple barcodes on vulnerable blood product labels had to be scanned separately, creating risk of error.

Datalogic’s Matrix 410™ image-based ID reader was implemented to scan the various barcodes on each blood bag quickly and accurately, even when damaged. The solution records just one image of all label barcodes in the laboratory information system, making registration significantly faster and error-free, according to Ikazia Hospital Rotterdam.
