Loudoun County Public Library Improves Service using the QuickScan Imager from Datalogic

Loudoun County Public Library, a public library system in Virginia, needed a faster and more accurate way to register new patrons and support mobile device-based library cards as patron demand grew. The manual process of entering driver’s license information for new cardholders was time-consuming and error-prone, especially during high-volume events like the opening of its Gum Spring branch.

To solve this, Datalogic, working with BayScan Technologies, implemented QuickScan QD2430 2D imagers at all eight branches. The scanners read bar codes from driver’s licenses, library cards, and smartphone screens, automatically populating patron records and speeding up checkout; what used to take five minutes now takes only moments, while also improving data accuracy and customer satisfaction.
