Lottomatica installs 5,000 QuickScan readers with Datalogic to speed bill payments

Lottomatica Italia Servizi, part of the Gruppo Lottomatica, operates one of the largest distribution networks in Europe and needed to automate bill payment data capture at its points of sale. Their challenge was to find a barcode reader that could quickly and accurately read GS1-128 codes on bills, even when poorly printed, while also consuming low power to integrate with their payment terminals. They partnered with vendor Datalogic to find a solution.

Datalogic implemented its QuickScan™ L QD2300 handheld laser readers for Lottomatica. The solution automated data entry, which sped up partner activities and eliminated errors from manual input. This allowed Lottomatica to offer a quicker and easier service to its customers. As a result of the project, Datalogic installed 5,000 readers, successfully improving service efficiency without requiring modifications to the existing software.
