The retailer also wanted to avoid the inconvenience and anxiety of handing phones to checkout staff, while continuing to support fast, efficient point-of-sale operations. Datalogic provided the scanning technology to address these needs.

Datalogic implemented QuickScan QD2400 handheld imagers alongside Magellan 9800i scanner-scales across checkout, kiosk, pharmacy, petrol station, and customer service areas. The solution enabled consistent reading of mobile-screen codes, eliminated the need for customers to hand over their phones, and improved overall checkout efficiency and customer experience. The supermarket reported immediate benefits in speed, simplicity, and service quality, though no specific numeric performance metrics were given.
