Industrial Wireless Handheld Readers Ensure Bang & Olufsen ”Noiseless” Warehouse Flow

Bang & Olufsen, the Danish high-end audio and electronics manufacturer, moved its finished-products warehouse to a new distribution center in Herning and needed a much stricter inventory tracking system. The company wanted wireless barcode scanning for warehouse management, but without relying on traditional WLAN technology because of security concerns. Datalogic’s PowerScan PM8300 industrial handheld readers were identified as the right fit.

Datalogic implemented a solution based on the PowerScan PM8300 readers and the STAR Cordless System, using only five access points to create a secure wireless network across the warehouse. The result was reliable, highly secure product traceability from production to customer, improved warehouse flow, and better productivity and flexibility for Bang & Olufsen. The readers were also robust, waterproof, and supported up to 60,000 scans per charge, helping protect the company’s investment.
