A Datalogic Case Study
Inco, a Danish cash and carry chain, sought to open a unique, fully automated store to reduce high personnel costs and reallocate staff to higher-value activities. The challenge was to create a cutting-edge self-shopping system for a professional clientele without any traditional cashier-staffed checkouts. To achieve this, they turned to their long-standing vendor, Datalogic, and its Joya Touch mobile computers.
Datalogic implemented a solution centered on its Joya Touch devices and ShopEvolution software, which enabled complete self-shopping and real-time store tracking. This allowed Inco to eliminate queues, as payment takes less than a minute, and to perform detailed analysis on customer behavior. The results included a significant reduction in staff required for cash desks, the redeployment of employees to customer support, and the use of a single device for both shopping and warehouse management. Datalogic's system made the Glostrup store the first and only fully automated cash and carry, fulfilling Inco's goal.
