A Datalogic Case Study
Anker Andersen A/S is a Danish automation specialist serving recycling and deposit-return systems, and it faced the challenge of automating Germany’s manual counting and sorting of returned beverage containers under the country’s compulsory deposit system. To meet the high demands for speed, accuracy, and the ability to handle mixed container types, Anker Andersen A/S integrated Datalogic’s Matrix-2000 barcode imagers into its high-rate sorting machines.
Datalogic’s imagers were installed in a 360-degree ring around containers so barcodes could be read without rotating damaged or deformed items. The solution enabled fully automatic processing at 100–200 units per minute with a read rate above 99.5% and breakage below 0.5%, helping Anker Andersen A/S support the counting of millions of beverage containers and scaling toward hundreds of machines across Germany.
