Dunelm, a leading UK home furnishings retailer, faced a challenge with older, unreliable mobile terminals in its fabric departments that were becoming uneconomical to support. The company sought a modern, efficient solution to improve its assisted sales process and turned to vendor Datalogic for its Skorpio™ mobile computers.

Datalogic implemented its Skorpio™ mobile computers, which feature an integrated barcode laser scanner and a compact keypad. The solution streamlined the process of measuring and labeling fabric, automatically sending data via the store's WLAN to generate labels for both the customer's purchase and the remaining stock. As a result, Dunelm found the Skorpio™ devices to be extremely reliable and much easier to support, resolving most issues in-house instead of sending units out for repair. The Datalogic solution significantly enhanced the efficiency of the store's automation.
