DPD, a major parcel distributor in Germany, faced a challenge in its Hamburg distribution center where it needed to significantly increase the throughput and performance of its baggage sorting system to handle increasing volumes. To meet this challenge, DPD selected the DS8100 super scanner from vendor Datalogic to automate its operations.

The solution implemented by Datalogic involved installing omni-directional reading stations powered by multiple DS8100 scanners. This allowed DPD to more than double its system's throughput and save over one hour of operational time each day. The project's success provided DPD with faster transportation capabilities and fully met its performance expectations, with Datalogic creating a new standard in bar code reading for the customer.
