A Datalogic Case Study
Heckmondwike, a UK manufacturer of commercial carpets and sports surfaces, needed to replace its aging radio-based warehouse devices, which had patchy coverage and only worked with Unix-based applications. The company wanted a more future-proof wireless solution for barcode scanning across dispatch, stocktaking, and warehousing, and worked with Datalogic partner MUM to evaluate rugged mobile computers, including the Datalogic Falcon X3.
Datalogic’s Falcon X3 mobile computer, running Windows CE 6 and Wavelink terminal emulation, was implemented as part of a complete wireless network upgrade. The solution connected seamlessly to Heckmondwike’s existing Unix-based system, simplified device setup, and improved stock management efficiency, helping the company maintain high customer service standards while moving to more reliable and flexible warehouse technology.
