Datalogic Provides ‘Tough’ Tracking of Meat Products at Rungis International Market

Mecarungis, the IT manager for meat products at Paris’s Rungis International Market, needed a reliable way to track more than 100,000 tons of meat each year under harsh conditions including cold, humidity, blood, and damaged bar codes. To meet strict traceability requirements, the company turned to Datalogic and its PowerScan industrial readers.

Working with Datalogic partner Districode, Mecarungis implemented the PowerScan PM8300 mobile scanners with STAR Cordless System and PowerScan PBT7100 readers with Bluetooth. Datalogic’s rugged devices performed well in the difficult environment, reading damaged labels and providing clear “good read” feedback with Green Spot technology. The result was a successful hardware transition, improved productivity and traceability, and a more durable scanning investment that reduced future repair and replacement costs.
