Continental, a global leader in tire production, needed to improve tire traceability across logistics, work-in-progress, quality control, and compliance. Its existing laser-based identification system struggled with low read rates, degraded barcodes after vulcanization and spray treatments, and frequent maintenance, creating costly manual rework. Datalogic Automation’s STS400 tire sorting solution, based on the MATRIX 410 image-based reader, was selected to address these challenges.

Datalogic implemented the pre-assembled, calibrated STS400 system to deliver fast, reliable tire reading with easy integration into production lines. The solution improved traceability and production efficiency, reduced no-read handling, and simplified maintenance with instant read-status feedback and automatic reader replacement.
