Complete Traceability Ensures an Easy Ride for Major Car Manufacturer

delphi, a leading global automotive supplier, faced the challenge of providing just-in-time deliveries of suspension systems in the exact sequence required by a major car manufacturer's assembly line. They needed a robust and fully traceable error-proofing system to ensure accuracy. To meet this challenge, they partnered with vendor Datalogic to implement a solution using PowerScan PM8300 handheld scanners, Rhino-Net mobile computers, and DS4600A fixed position scanners.

The solution implemented by Datalogic involved a system where operators use rugged Datalogic devices to scan barcodes on parts and designated storage compartments, creating a verifiable audit trail. This ensured the correct suspension module was picked and loaded for shipment. As a result, delphi successfully provided their customer with greatly reduced line-side storage, simpler logistics, increased production flexibility, and lower costs, while safeguarding their own investment with reliable performance.
