Chark-produkter’s traceability leaves nothing to chance

Chark-Produkter AB, a Swedish manufacturer of sausages and pâtés, needed a better way to meet EU food-industry traceability requirements after relying on a fully manual process. The company worked with Datalogic through its partner DataFångst Svenska AB, alongside emPART AB, to find a mobile scanning solution that could support accurate control of suppliers, ingredients, and production batches.

Datalogic implemented a warehouse traceability solution built around Skorpio™ mobile computers, barcode labels, wireless coverage across the factory, and a custom C++/.Net application. The system now tracks every ingredient from receiving through production and shipping, including temperature, supplier, employee, and batch data, giving Chark-Produkter AB immediate visibility and rapid recall capability; after one year in harsh factory conditions, the devices were still operating without issues.
