Canada Post reduces parcel processing cycle time with Datalogic

Canada Post, a leading Canadian delivery provider, faced the challenge of streamlining its parcel processing to reduce cycle times, lower costs, and improve efficiency. To meet these goals as part of a broader business transformation, they required an automated data collection and sortation solution. They partnered with vendor Datalogic to implement a system using fixed-position barcode scanners.

Datalogic implemented a solution using their DS8100 and DX8200 omni-directional laser scanners. These were mounted over conveyors and sorter cells to successfully scan barcodes on any of a parcel's five sides. This implementation from Datalogic resulted in significant benefits, including a reduction in forklift usage, freed-up facility space, a reduced cycle time, and the ability to direct parcels directly from induction to dispatch, lowering processing and transportation costs.
