AZ Sint-Jan Brugge-Oostende AV brings traceability to the operating room thanks to Datalogic

AZ Sint-Jan, a hospital with campuses in Bruges and Ostend, faced the challenge of improving traceability for surgical kits in its operating rooms. Their initial in-house solution was not suitable for the demanding environment. They sought a uniform digital solution to track which equipment was used on each patient and partnered with vendor Datalogic and software provider PHI DATA to find it.

Datalogic implemented its Memor 10 mobile computer, a robust and damp-proof handheld device with a built-in scanner. The solution streamlined administration by allowing staff to simply scan patient and kit information, with built-in error checking to prevent mistakes. The hospital achieved its goal of enhanced traceability and found the device so intuitive and multifunctional that it is now considering it for other future applications, viewing the hardware as a support for various processes.
