A Datalogic Case Study
Banca Popolare di Vicenza, an Italian bank, needed to meet new Italian Banking Association requirements for payment collection while improving customer service and reducing manual data entry errors. The challenge was to read 2D bar codes on payment slips quickly and reliably across its branches, and it worked with Datalogic and its Gryphon™ Desk handheld readers to address the need.
Datalogic equipped BPVi’s 400 branches with Gryphon™ Desk handheld readers to capture the PDF417 and OCR-B encoded data on payment notes, including low-quality or damaged bar codes. The solution improved first-scan read performance, made employees’ work easier, and helped the bank deliver a higher service level to customers; the keyboard-emulation setup also simplified deployment by avoiding special driver installation.
