Anker Andersen A/S achieves 99.5% read rates with Datalogic

Anker Andersen A/S, a Danish manufacturer of automation systems, needed a highly reliable barcode reading solution for its new high-speed sorting machines. These machines were designed to automate the manual counting and sorting process for Germany's compulsory bottle and can deposit system, where read accuracy was critical as each unread container represented a financial loss. For this challenge, Anker Andersen turned to their long-time vendor, Datalogic, to provide the barcode imaging technology.

Datalogic equipped the sorting machines with a tunnel of eight Matrix-2000 barcode imagers, forming a 360-degree ring around the conveyor to read codes from any container orientation without requiring rotation. The solution delivered by Datalogic achieved a read rate of over 99.5% at speeds of 100-200 units per minute, with a breakage rate of less than 0.5%. This high performance ensured the financial accuracy of the entire recycling deposit system, allowing Anker Andersen to successfully deploy its machines throughout Germany.
